Selecting a datadir that is not the default will result in a permission error.
On Debian 10.2 + v0.19.0.1 (snap) choosing a datadir within $HOME directory does not result in a permission error.
$ snap version

Is there an update on this? I'd like to use an externally mounted disk as the datadir. It doesn't seem possible to do that right now.

Yeah, adding removable-media interface would be great. Despite the name, this inteface is not only for removable media, it also gives access to /mnt where users usually mount their non-removable disks.

Folks is this the error that this fix supposed to solve
