I may have found a solution -- I edited the commands to run it in an X session and it works!

sudo -u kodi /usr/bin/xinit /bin/sh -c "xrandr -s 0; /usr/bin/steamlink" -- :0 -quiet -nolisten tcp vt1

Thanks for the feedback. I'm definitively missing the Rpi 4 right now so that's not easy to test but interested in what you will find 👍

@pinembour I see you have a fork that says it works with Rpi4.

  1. Is it worth a PR?
  2. If you are forking can you open an issue tracker?

I haven't used it for a while (before the switch to kernel 5.4 at least) but I'll see if my solution still works. If it does we'll see if it would work as a PR.

Hey which file do I need to make this change to?

it's in start.sh

the command I posted was actually for the osmc steam link launcher, so you'll need to adapt it a bit, but the idea is to just start steam link in an X session and set the proper resolution

Hi, On Raspberry Pi 4 and using the updates made in PR #10 , I am getting this to work without much issue. Steamlink does not require an X server to be installed.
My setup is based on the minimal "Lite" version of Raspberry Pi OS 11 (Bullseye), importantly the 32 bit version. SteamLink would not connect properly with the 64bit userspace OS.

Starting from the base install, I onlt needed to install sudo apt install kodi steamlink git. Steamlink and Kodi both run directly using GBM. Using this standalone service and user config .
