Thanks @ZACHSTRIVES, just returning to this project.

Couple of questions:

do you have the show scrollbars always setting on? (Apple icon at top left -> System Settings -> Appearance -> Show scroll bars: always)
I'm also puzzled the font in your picture. You should see it with the Open Sans font. Don't suppose you know if you have garamond installed? Oddly, I see I set it to use that as a default - which was incorrect. I'd be curious to know if you deleted that choice it would look more like this.
