OK I think I get it now. The correct usage is to NOT have the input structure defined as an input argument to the function, and also not have any addOptional statement for the input structure, but instead, have addParameter statements for any and all name-value pairs within the input structure. In that case, magical things happen as expected. But it would be even more magical if users could put the input structure as an optional function input (with or without addOptional - the important thing is being able to put the structure variable on the function definition line so it shows up as a function hint). Note that if the input structure is a required argument, and there are matching addParameter statements for each name-value field in the structure, the magical parser will not expand the name-value pairs into the workspace. I think, at minimum, this might be desirable to warn users about. But maybe I am misunderstanding the way structure inputs are supposed to be used.
