It's only as accurate as the Geoname shape polygons, which are only publicly available in a low resolution. There will be inaccuracies with locations close the borders or coasts where it returns the wrong location or Optional.empty
.

Accuracy
97.92% when ran against the GeoNames data set for cities with a population > 15000.
