Hi @jkruse14, first of all I would like to say that this is certainly not to be considered a bug. This is absolutely expected behaviour as our current spec. Second, I'm not sure I agree with this. We already provide ways for users to convert booleans to strings, and vice versa using our converter functions. I personally believe this to be a slippery slope when it comes to allowing equalities between different data types.

It's also important to note that although CloudFormation is in the name, cfn-guard is still considered to be a generic tool.

Thanks for the explanation @joshfried-aws! That makes sense and I had completely missed the parse_* functions. I'm closing this issues.
