Editing non-writable gist should fork about rcloud HOT 4 CLOSED

My thought was that if you don't have write access then the interface goes into "view mode" and then you click Fork to edit.

However there is also merit to automatic forking.

Note it will be the same problem for viewing old versions of your own notebook.

Yes, that's fine, too. It's just that currently it allows you to edit but there is no back-end.

There is a small snag with using the view mode as-is: currently, it also implies execution, but that's not good since there are notebooks that have very long runtimes (e.g. those with Hadoop jobs) so when you click on a foreign notebook, you want to see the code but not run it -- then decide whether to Fork or Run.
