What's the status of this issue? It's really annoying to work with Atom like this, especially since cmd-b is supposed to be for navigation between open buffers (isn't it?).

@nathansobo mentioned on the linked issue that this behavior used to be the default behavior. I was trying to find the commit that removed this behavior to use it as a starting point for adding it back in (though the code might have changed a lot after almost a year, I suppose). Does anyone now when this was changed? Or maybe even the exact commit? :)

I'm subscribing to this but I might as well add a 👍

This could be behavior that can be had both ways. For example, if you open a file with enter it will go to the already opened file but if you open with shift-enter it opens a new copy in the current pane.

That would be the best of both worlds.

👍 Anything stopping the PR from being merged?

It's not clear that it's the right default behavior. Would need to be an option.

I've set it as an option in that PR, and it defaults to false.

To me cmd+b is about locating a file I have opened, so having it switch to the pane seems like a sensible default. But yes I agree it's not totally obvious. As long as there's an option I'm happy.
