Thanks for reporting this -- the root cause is that the tests you are running is using pytest-remotedata==0.3.2, which still used distutils instead of packaging for parsing version numbers.

pytest-remotedata is not a direct dependency of ccdproc. It is pulled in through pytest-astropy, which is a metapackage that installs several useful pytest plugins.

I've fixed this in #808 by adding a minimum version for pytest-astropy. I hope to release this by early next week.

If this fix won't work for you (e.g. you need older versions of ccdproc to successfully run the tests) let me know. There is (I think) a small patch that would add this specific DeprecationWarning to the list of warnings that are ignored instead of promoting them to errors.
