Did you try to run the following command in a command prompt window (cmd.exe)?:
call "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\Community\Common7\Tools\VsDevCmd.bat" -arch=x64
Just adjust the path as needed.
This command will loas several environment variables needed to compile Aseprite on windows.
Then try to run the cmake command without the CMAKE_C_COMPILER and CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER variables.

Hello.
Yeah, I did do this both with and without the extra compiler variables.
C:\aseprite\build>cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=RelWithDebInfo -DLAF_BACKEND=skia -DSKIA_DIR="C:\deps\skia" -DSKIA_LIBRARY_DIR="C:\deps\skia\out\Release-x64" -DSKIA_LIBRARY="C:\deps\skia\out\Release-x64\skia.lib" -G Ninja ..
Just returns the same error.
CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:23 (project):
Running
'C:/deps/depot_tools/ninja' '--version'
failed with:
unknown error
-- Configuring incomplete, errors occurred!
