bug: Appium v2 does't install the newer version of the app package. about appium HOT 4 CLOSED

It is expected as current intention. The change itself was added 3 years ago as a fix. It was just after Appium 1.22.3 creation, which was available as a uia2 driver with Appium v2. appium/appium-uiautomator2-driver#476

@KazuCocoa Thanks for the quik reply. So it's not a bug but a fix :( ， now if I want to upgrade the apk version but don’t want to clear/reset the app cache data, what should I do? Temporarily modify noReset parameter to false?

I think you could achieve it with:

1. start a session without app nor package name (then a session starts without installing/launching app)
2. install an app via https://github.com/appium/appium-uiautomator2-driver?tab=readme-ov-file#mobile-installapp
3. launch the app via https://github.com/appium/appium-uiautomator2-driver?tab=readme-ov-file#mobile-startactivity

In case you want to clear the local data, calling https://github.com/appium/appium-uiautomator2-driver?tab=readme-ov-file#mobile-clearapp or uninstalling the app will help
