In my experience, the Firefox binaries built by the upstream project have been running well on all systems I have tried - so what would the advantage be of doing this? I am currently using the upstream-provided binaries to create my Firefox AppImage.

(And yes, this is the right place to request non-upstream AppImage builds.)

Well... the main advantage would be the possibility to try the new GTK3 interface right now (while official upstream builds currently stay with GTK2), and see how well it integrates with a GTK3 desktop environment, for example.

Do you think you can get it to build on CentOS 6? If you can get it so far, the rest should be doable...

According to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/46.0/releasenotes/ Firefox for Linux uses GTK3 by default.
