The problem with the below code is that then you have to add five different chains if you want to add an event handler (e.g. to verify the object action). Is there an error when trying with the first code block?

I didn't see any errors. It just didn't do anything.

It may be because the GameSession's handlePendingEvents(EventHandlerChainGroup) will look for the most specific class first, and stops searching if it is found. This means that if you have a registered EventHandlerChain that handles solely FirstObjectActionEvent instances, the method will not look any further than it, effectively canceling out all of the more-abstract handlers that may be interested.

To see if this is the case, try your handling code for the abstract ObjectActionEvent again whilst preventing the registration of more specific chains (e.g. for FirstObjectActionEvent).

Found the problem (thanks to TheChosenOne for reporting it) - the runecraft plugin was breaking the chain where it shouldn't have been (see commit cd76853).
