Hello, I’m Pınar, the Founding Designer at Synnada, collaborating with @ozankabak. I’ve explored three themes for DF: futuristic, modern, and generic. I’ve started with a monochrome design and will incorporate typography and color in the next iterations. Feel free to select your favorite theme and logo by specifying the number.

Hi again, the voting has officially ended 🎊 and the finalist is number 5:
I will open a PR and continue the branding process from there.
from arrow-datafusion.
These are the variations on the top two logos (with and without arrow symbol):

My vote is for 7 :)
from arrow-datafusion.
Here is one proposal for the new logo.
from arrow-datafusion.
I will ask our designer to come up with a bunch of logos and post them here today
from arrow-datafusion.
Just my view, but the logo with the Arrow >>> symbol seems a bit busy. I am not sure that we should include this design element.
Agreed. Seems like second variation is the leading candidate for now then

Additional variations: figma link.

Here is an updated version with the trademark symbol and fixing a small alignment issue.
from arrow-datafusion.
Here are a few candidate logos that are in tune with the original logo. You can log in to Figma via Google to leave comments there, or can just drop a note here. We can create variations of these based on suggestions or add other new candidates based on original ideas from the community.

Thanks @pinarbayata! These look really great. We will need to add a TM trademark symbol and I think it is important that the word "Apache" appears before DataFusion since the trademark is for "Apache DataFusion".
from arrow-datafusion.
I'm partial to orange for some reason so #4 then #7
from arrow-datafusion.
Hi everyone, voting ends on Sunday at 12:00 PM in San Francisco Time. I will announce the finalists afterwards.
from arrow-datafusion.
They all look good to me (I have no preference). Let's see if anyone else offers an opinion

btw thank you for the work on this @pinarbayata all the designs are great

Can't wait for some DataFusion stickers in future!
from arrow-datafusion.
I think we also need to have a (TM) somewhere, for example how Spark does it:
from arrow-datafusion.
I've also requested a version of this that has APACHE ARROW on the top line that we could use until the project moves.
from arrow-datafusion.
Reminds me of the Plum Pudding Model of the Atom
But I am happy to go with any of these designs
from arrow-datafusion.
If the designs outside of the nuclear context of "fusion" could also be considered, maybe we can explore options beyond nuclear fusion. What do you think, @alamb?

Sounds good to me. I really don't have a strong opinion in this area
What I recommend for consensus is that someone who is willing to "rebrand" the project (aka go update the logo in the documentation) propose a specific new logo (perhaps via a PR to update the logo). Then we'll review that PR (and we can send a note to the mailing list for extra visibility) and when it merges the project logo would be updated
from arrow-datafusion.
Thanks @pinarbayata -- I have sent a note around to slack and discord asking the broader community for feedback so hopefully we'll get some more comments here

Thank you! I love them. I'd vote for any of the ones with the plan on the atom.
from arrow-datafusion.
I too like "the meatball" (🤣). It keeps with the atomic theme but is visually distinct from a similar project, Velox:
Though options 12 and 6 of the black + white images are quite good too
from arrow-datafusion.
I would cast my vote for having "datafusion" on the same line. I think 16 and 6 are my favorites

Hello again, after the first round of logo discussions and feedback, we have been able to narrow down to a few finalists. These designs have been refined and improved, and now we're looking for your input once again. Please feel free to share your thoughts, and let us know your top picks.
from arrow-datafusion.
I would vote for 3

I like 3 too

I like 3 😍
from arrow-datafusion.
I like 3, 6, and 7 the most.
from arrow-datafusion.
It looks like 3 is leading, with 7 being a close second.
from arrow-datafusion.
@pinarbayata Is it possible to see a version of 3 with a white background, or would that just be 6?
from arrow-datafusion.
Hi everyone, thank you all for your feedback. The finalists are options 3 and 7. Now, it's time for the final round of voting to choose your top pick. Below are the two most popular versions, each with different color variations. The numbers correspond to each column. Please take a moment to review them and cast your vote.

Hi everyone, thank you all for voting. I have noticed that the first set of variations was missing logomarks, unlike the second set. This was unfair, so I have edited my comment to include logomarks for the first set (see third row). If this change impacts your vote, I kindly request you to adjust it accordingly. I apologize for any confusion caused.

Seeing the logomarks I like 1 (followed by 3)

@pinarbayata is this possible to get most favorable logs and then have 1 post per logo, so people can put likes under each of them? Later it would be easy to calculate

Usually I'm a fan of keeping it simple and one colour, but the orange reminds me of Spark too much 😅

Sure, that sounds more applicable and easy. I hadn't thought of it that way, but if there is going to be another round, we will implement voting as you suggested. Also, for now, you can add a number emoji corresponding to the logo you select below my comment.

Thanks @pinarbayata
