UPDATE
Issue seems unrelated to the LXC container.
The container had had a package install version of nginx-full, although it was removed and I also executed the uninstall of the script before install apparently some systemd files related to the service remain in the system from previous install.
I uninstalled again and manually removed all related scripts to nginx found.
A new install gave an error on the mkdir of «/opt/geoip» as it already existed but worked fine and service seems to work.
On a side note I did a fork of your script and add support to include nginx_small_light module as another option. In case of interest, happy to send it.
