This program is intended to be a simulation in which natural selection is induced. "Organisms", which are boxes on the screen, have a variable number of colored stripes. The color of these stripes is dictated by a sort of "DNA" encoded by strings; these strings consist of 3-length substrings for which each character is the ascii value corresponding to the integer amount of red, green, blue for each color of each stripe of the box. The DNA undergoes a sort of "mutation" when passed onto offspring, thus allowing for variation past the initial random generating of the boxes. The boxes' rate of survival is increased as they increasingly "blend in" with the colored environment behind them, so the expected population behavior would be for boxes to emerge that are most blended in with the environment, as such a trait would be favored by natural selection in nature.
