Can you please verify your bash version using bash --version command? It must be >= 4.0.

It seems like you are getting error for the associative array declaration, which is a part of bash 4.0+

You may be running the script as sh ./jpsstat.sh which doesn't run the script as bash. Try to run using ./jpsstat.sh

from jps_stat.

Your system has bash version 3.2.57(1)-release. But jpsstat.sh requires bash >=4.0. So you are getting this error.
jpsstat.sh uses associative array which is a part of bash 4.0+
