Version 0.7.0 with support for the Shelly 2.5 is out now ⚡️

Yes, I’ve pre-ordered the Shelly 2.5 myself and am definitely planning to add support for it. That will probably only require a minimum amount of work.

As for the RGBW2, I’ve considered adding support for that too, but I don’t own any RGBW2s and so I need someone that does and is willing to help out with testing.

Hi Alexander
Thanks for the prompt reply.

So, I’ll consider installing 2 shellys 2.5 and test it for a while, against a Tuya-based smart switch (zemismart) system, mainly for home automation.
We are dependent on external servers through API’s, so I think it’s important to test before committing a whole house to a single “unofficial “ system.

Which type of switch do you use for the Shelly’s?
Do they keep the state On/Off? And what about the shutters, can we see the state in HomeKit?

Thanks,

PS:
If I choose to install the RGBW2, I volunteer myself to help with testing.

I'm using my Shellys behind regular Schneider momentary on/off switches.
When used in in roller shutter mode, the percentage open/closed can be seen and set in HomeKit.
Why are you dependent on external servers?

My thing with external servers..... sorry :)

The homebridge plugin uses the online API, and it uses external servers to issue the commands, right?

Btw.. expecting 2 Shellys 2.5 from April batch, and also RBW2’s.

HomeKit doesn't use online API, that's the main difference comparing to other platforms. Homebridge acts as a proxy between your shelly and homekit enabled controller on your local network (it can be your iOS device when you are at home, or the domestic hub like appleTV or iPad if you want to control remotely).

No it talks to the Shelly devices directly over the local network. No connection with the Internet is required.

Hi Again,

In HomeKit, some devices expose the action Single Press, other also expose Double Press / Long Press (in Eve App we can chose that), making it possible to use the same button for more than one thing.
(ie. single press turns on light - if the light is off, or turns off light - if the light is on; double press manages the hall lights, long press manages the TV on/off).

Does your Shelly plugin also expose "double" or "long presses"? Would it be possible?

Thanks in advance,

alexryd avatar alexryd commented on May 15, 2024

No, Shelly devices don’t support long/double presses (yet).

Back to the topic.. :-) Any updates with Shelly 2.5? Will it be supported soon? Best regards and many thanks!

I just received a 2.5 today and will hopefully find the time to install it and add support for it in the coming days.
