it is not normal, a gdk error means you are out of disk space

windows + monetdb have trouble if you are close to maxing out your computer's ram and single-threading often improves performance, but time it and try it both ways on a big query on your machine and system.time() the difference to see for yourself. it absolutely will vary based on hardware

I see. But I have > 1 TB free space and my performance monitor shows no
great load while running the script...

check both your C drive as well as the getwd() drive maybe.

otherwise reproduce the error with this at the very top of your screen so you can give us more to work with troubleshooting-wise

It's 230am here, but I'll give it another go in 12-15 hours.

Would suggest re-opening this issue until we can confirm the cause of the Global Development Kit error. Doesn't seem to be disk space or RAM related.

please rule out the duh stuff first. don't create your monetdb directory in a dropbox folder.
