I'd like to vote on individual constraints in the context of individual user stories:

  Scenario: tries to start story with same name
    Given a story exists with name "banana"
    When I submit a story with name "banana"
    Then the bot returns "sorry that's not acceptable - we already had a vote on story with name 'banana' URL to that previous thing"

OK - after today's meeting with Junior, and further thought by myself, here is the proposed schema.

var mongoose = require('mongoose');

var storySchema = new mongoose.Schema({
  name: {
    type: String,
    required: true,
    unique: true // Identifier
  }
  url: {
    type: String,
    required: true,
    unique: true // Alternate identifier
  },
  startedBy: {
    type: String, // Name of person who submitted story to system
    required: true
  },
  startedAt: {
    type: Date, // DateTime story was sent to the system
    required: true,
    default: new Date()
  },
  status: {
    type: String,
    enum: ['first-round', 'second-round', 'third-round', 'completed'],
    required: true,
    default: 'first-round'
  }
});

var Stories = mongoose.model('Story', storySchema);

module.exports = Stories;

Alternatively, to let Mongoose handle the timestamps:

var mongoose = require('mongoose');

var storySchema = new mongoose.Schema({
  name: {
    type: String,
    required: true,
    unique: true // Identifier
  }
  url: {
    type: String,
    required: true,
    unique: true // Alternate identifier
  },
  startedBy: {
    type: String, // Name of person who submitted story to system
    required: true
  },
  status: {
    type: String,
    enum: ['first-round', 'second-round', 'third-round', 'completed'],
    required: true,
    default: 'first-round'
  }
}, {
  timestamps: true
});

var Stories = mongoose.model('Story', storySchema);

module.exports = Stories;

from asyncvoter-api.
