It seems I need to be more clear in my documentation. In short change your markup to something like this:

<!-- in case you are using a polyfill like picturefill or respimage: -->
<img class="lazyload" src="dummy.png" data-srcset="image.png, [email protected] 2x">

<!-- in case you are not using a polyfill -->
<img class="lazyload" src="dummy.png" data-src="image.png" data-srcset="image.png, [email protected] 2x">
