One possible sticking point here is that Table exposes getColumns(). If we just return a ResultSetIterable<Row> we would be removing this functionality.

I can make a LazyTable class where getRows() returns an iterable rather than a list. How does that sound?

You should be able to get the colums by calling row.getTable().getColumns(). But still, you have a good point, as that doesn't feel quite right.

I like your LazyTable idea, as that will fit right in with the other executeAndFetchTable method!

try(LazyTable t = query.executeAndFetchLazyTable()) {
    for (Row r : t.rows()) {
         String val = r.getString("val");
    }
}
