I hate the "don't critique if you can't make it better" mindset.
So now I need to have a degree in arts and a painting in a museum somewhere with my name on it just so I can 'not like' a painting ?

If I don't like a movie it doesn't mean I can produce a better one.

I very much agree with the premise of this post. I think one of the most tedious and common philosophical anti-patterns found in society today is any idea which amounts to resigning one's self to being powerless to circumstances, asking permission, or waiting for the world to change.

I think a particularly egregious example of self-defeating philosophy can commonly be found amongst people who self-identify as having depression, anxiety, etc. The way I see some people identify with, personify, and fetishize these mental illnesses leaves no wonder in my mind of how some people can't overcome them. In this instance, these people are taking power away from themselves and putting it in some fanciful entity which apparently looms over them.

I haven't understood the top-down and bottom-up approach:
top-down: conscious effort for running and then it will become a habit
bottom-up: running become a habit and remove conscious effort

It makes me feel like I have to go top-down and then bottom-up as unless I don't create a habit, how can I let habit run itself.

Is there any other example where these two concepts are independently applied? or it is always chained in a sequence?

@Adnzzzzz BTW it is really good writing. The philosophy of growth mindset and onus on oneself which you are trying to convey is really amazing.
