@adonaac Great post!

I'm pretty sure larger productions also do this in similar cases, but it seems they often add a DSL or non-program data layer to it to make it easier to use for artists and/or modders. It would be interesting to hear how this is normally done there from someone who works in the industry.
Personally I usually parametrise and reuse code whenever there's only a value difference, but with distinct kinds of behaviour I'll copy event handlers and other short implementations to make the change.
