Emacs mysteriously disables my post-command-hook about tern HOT 2 CLOSED

post-command-hook is a variable defined in `C source code'.
Its value is (global-font-lock-mode-check-buffers)

This variable is potentially risky when used as a file local variable.

Documentation:
Normal hook run after each command is executed.
If an unhandled error happens in running this hook,
the function in which the error occurred is unconditionally removed, since
otherwise the error might happen repeatedly and make Emacs nonfunctional.

Now to figure out which error is actually happening (not seeing anything in *Messages*)

Message is

Error in post-command-hook (tern-post-command): (error "Invalid search bound (wrong side of point)")

debug-on-enter does not cause the debugger to be entered (probably because some wrapper of the post-command-hook runner caught the error). This is an error that's raised (also?) when doing a search-forward and passing it a limit that's before (point) -- but I'm never passing limits to forward searches.
