In the python script there need to be 2 changes to make it work. At the start of the AviSynth script:

LoadPlugin("ffms2.dll")
Import("ffms2.avsi")

And instead of AVISource, it needs to be FFCopyrightInfringement.

Note: I should find appropriate readme/licensing docs for the files:

FFMS2.avsi
ffms2.dll

Savestates check the programs name and dont load if they dont match.
This check should be removed!

If for example you're holding the right cursor key down, then you save state, when you load that save, the key will be 'down' until you press and release it again.

I was mashing save and load state at the time.

I thought it might be just an SDL output issue and the captured videos would be fine, but it turns out the choppiness is in the videos too.

I'm not sure yet if closing DOSBox and loading the last save fixes it, or if it is caused by saving or loading state.
