I got undefined method '[]' for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError) with arisaid apply usergroups when I create new usergroup and assign some users.

おそらく usergroups.rb の https://github.com/pepabo/arisaid/blob/master/lib/arisaid/usergroups.rb#L78 を実行した時に src = nil だと update_users で実行してる src['users'] が確実に落ちるということが原因と推測しています。

create group した後に update_users を nil 渡しで実行してるのって何ででしょう...(素朴な疑問)
