Feature Request to have fast keyboard navigation.

Three parts, part 1 is most important

1. after typing in filter allow down arrow into file list. Be able to move up and down with arrows. Hit Enter to activate file. Similar to how Quick Switcher works
2. Have ESC key clear filter after typing
3. Type in name of file into filter. If no files match, when user hits ENTER, have file created. This is how nvAlt (mac markdown editor) works. I say "maybe" because i am not sure where the file would end up -- in the root folder? Not sure if everyone would like that. I would -- i would move them later.

I am having strange filtering that seems to happen only when the search string reaches four characters. The strangest thing i have seen.

Search term, typing in a.... l.... e..... (not typing in the dots, but just pausing between letters), and the files with "alex" and "talent" correctly show up. then i continue to an "a", so I have "alea" as the filter term. At this point, the first "a" is ignored and words matching "lea" now showup. I have a ton of files with "leadership" so my list goes from 5 files to like 30. But "leadership" should not match "alea".

When bartender is on and manual sort is selected, select/copy files will no longer paste links into a new note.
The hand cursor then won't close.
The assumption is that files are being rearranged in the file explorer.
I assume that it's necessary to move away from the manual sort to return to being able to copy links into a note.

When sort is set to custom, it would be very useful to have an option for new files to be placed at the top of the file list. Currently new files are placed at the bottom of the file list by default. I have some very long file listings and keep my latest items at the top of my listing for easier access.

I have restarted obsitian and Bartender. I type in words in the filter field and nothing is happening. Any thoughts? Have not restarted my Mac yet.

I can’t enable custom sort order for the drag and drop feature in both Windows and iPad versions because it doesn’t exist in the menu. I’ve already tried changing the theme and turning the plugin on and off.

Obsidian version: 1.1.16

after obsidian has updated to 0.15.6 the search panel will automatically appears in the bottom half of the notes page,

I recently started using folders more and now the folder names have some common words that are also in the file name, so my searches are pulling back the whole list of files.

This is not critical, but just a suggestion.

On v15.0.1 (the new Insider build) Zachatoo and I both experienced this mirroring:

Is it incompatible with new Obsidian releases?

This request may not be feasible...

I dislike the proliferation of icons. It seems Obsidian has a two menu bar setup, but a lot of wasted space. I would like the option, through Bartender, to have the secondary icons show in the blank space to the right of the primary icons. Perhaps a vertical bar separator (but not necessary)

For me, the awesome filter tool has combined the folder icon, the search icon, and with my other feature request, the "new file" icon. I never create new folders, so would like to suppress "new folder".

Not sure if it's an issue with me, or what is going on.

I created a brand new vault and installed BRAT. Immediately went to the "Add Beta Plugin" and attempted to use nothingislost/obsidian-bartender and https://github.com/nothingislost/obsidian-bartender.

BRAT keeps complaining that the current release does not contain a main.js

I'd like to have an option to enable/disable each dropdown bar (I mean, Bartender hiding command buttons in left/righth/status bar).
This can also help to (temporarily) workaround compatibility issues (for example this one I've just submitted: #34)

Hider plugin allows the left ribbon bar to be hovered on the bottom left corner instead of always visible like default.

The hovering creates conflicts with the new hiding icons feature.

Would be great to support hider plugin with your planned future releases

This would be such a great feature. Scrivener has a very intuitive and robust implementation of this feature.

plugin has stopped working since updating to Obsidian v1.
I no longer see the icon to collapse toolbars.

There are times when plugins have ribbon or status bar icons and are forced to keep them. it would be great to be able to hide/remove unwanted icons

Hopefully title is clear enough.
This would be a huge keyboard workflow enabler!! Filter list, down to the correct file, hit enter and off you go!

a lot of plugins like kanban have more view-action icons than a normal pane, this could also help plugins like sliding panes where people prefer to have them sorted differently.

there could be a problem with active icons like the pinned pane icons for saving the sorting order

I wasn't using obsidian for a few weeks and when I came back all of the sorting I did with this plugin was rearranged by obsidian's orders?

I was very excited for this plugin, and installed it (Obsidian v 1.03 on the Mac), chose Custom Sort on the menu on the top, and tried to rearrange files. Nothing happened -- it was the same select file as before. I feel I must be doing something basic wrong, but can't for the life of me figure it out. Any info you need to help debug this issue? Thanks!

I can't move any folder when custom sorting. When I try to scroll, it's like I long press on the file and move it. To repro :

• Set custom sorting
• Disable the drag to rearrange
• Try to scroll to down of the explorer.

In place of scroll, the folder will be selected and move.

Env

• iOS and IpadOS 15.5
• Obsidian 1.2.2

On Mac OS. Have 3-4 levels of folder. Notably the first folder starts with an underscore, some programs thrown off by that.

You've seriously made a huge improvement to my Obsidian workflow, thank you so much for the plugin. If you added a donate option I'd love to buy you a coffee or something.

One thing that would be helpful would be the ability to only sort at certain levels (for me, just the top level folders). I think you could potentially implement it by just having a setting to only sort manually at x level depth folders and then use one of the default sorting options. Alternatively, it would also be cool to be able to sort custom on a folder-by-folder basis.

I suspect that these could be hard to implement, what might be easier would be to update the manual sort to use one of the sorting methods on demand instead.

Note: I'm a new Obsidian user so it's possible I could be missing something here.

Like others have mentioned, there seem to be some issues with the rearranging function. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
And I just found that, but without too much testing, if I toggle the rearranging icon twice, it could always work well as expected.
So hope this can help you find out what's going wrong, and thanks a lot for this awesome obsidian plugin.

If the arranged position can be fixed after renaming would be very helpful. Considering renaming is a very common operation.

Dear developer hello, this is a very practical and excellent plug-in, but I encountered the following confusion in the process of using:
How does this function work :"Automatically hide ribbon and status bar items once your mouse leaves the icon container"

Instructions say to copy over main.js to .obsidian.

There is no main.js.

In Obsidian 0.15.3 and Bartender 0.5.6, dragging file (any file, image, pdf or md for example) will "bug" and doesn't work.

Note : The mouse icon will become and keep to be the "hand".

Removing the custom sort fix the problem

Problem

After setting window frame style to Hidden(default) mode, Quicke Explorer menu will show in the left status bar. I think Bartender will hide Quicke Explorer menu just like picture below.

After disable Bartender plugin, QE menu displays well.

First of all, thanks a lot for making this plugin.

I use it a lot to rearrange file orders in Longform plugin folders. However, when I enable this plugin I can't expand folders in the File Explorer or click something on the status bar (such as Change Theme, File Info, and Sync status). It would be great if I can do those things while using this plugin. But if not, a hotkey to toggle on/of this plugin would be great.

I installed Bartender through BRAT and it hasn't worked. I've tried toggling off all other plugins, and still, unable to work.

In the screen recording, I try to toggle the button, and it still doesn't work. Please help

The customization of moving files and folders in the third level directory does not work

The Hider plugin along with this one achieve something that should be done by default in Obsidian, but I'm missing the final piece of the puzzle: Grouping elements instead of just rearranging or hiding them.

I'm suggesting the functionality that by dropping one icon on top of another, we can store both under a "folder", similarly to what Discord or Android allow to do.

I started using it today, and noticed that the drag and drop for custom ordering works only for the first two levels in the Navigation tree
Folder/subfolder.. works fine
Folder/subfolder/sub-subfolder .. here it stops working

Obsidian does not yet have a good method of combining multiple notes into one.

A workaround (using search, copy/paste search, convert links to embeds) does work, but doesn't maintain the manual sort order from bartender (and only really works for export).

Since one obvious use for manual sorting is being able to prepare longer documents using shorter notes, without having an artificial naming system, I wondered if that was something that would be a useful extension of bartender's functionality.

I was so happy to use it, but after a short while, I noticed that manual sort works sometimes and sometimes not. Sometimes It works lets me move a note or a folder up or down, then it refuses to do it again. I tried deactivating then activating the button (the manual sort button), sometimes it works sometimes not.
Any advices? am I missing something? otherwise, I hope you can fix it.

Very useful plugin ! But I found some buggy spots. Not easy to spill out, see video below:

It is clearly, creating consecutive 2 folders in an intially empty folder would result not abling to arrange customly. Other folders and files behave normally (abling to be arranged customly).
Please considering a fix.

I have made this suggestion on the Obsidian forums; copying it here as I fiercely hope it gets picked up. I think it would elevate this plugin from amazing to almost perfect.

In my case—and I believe this would make sense for a lot of users—I just want to manually sort my buckets. The folders. Within my “sorted just right” buckets, I’d just like to have the files sorted the traditional way. That is, interchangeably by modification date, creation date, or alphabetically, but rarely if ever manually.

Just spotted a bug with the Filter Items option. Any file that shows up in the search results keeps the augmented name with the folder structure prefixed even when you disable the Filter Items button.

Here is a GIF to help show what I mean:

I can't quite understand the behavior of the file explorer filtering. It seems to sometimes show the full file path and sometimes not.

Example:

Each of these results is in a folder, yet some results exclude the folders and just show the filename. I'm not sure if it's a bug or I'm just misunderstanding how the filtering works.

My version is 0.5.3 and I'm on the latest insider Obsidian release. Today, for the first time, I couldn't open or close folders when custom ordering was selected. If I change it to one of Obsidian's default orders (e.g. by file name ascending) I can open and close folders.
