restore window instead open new window

First thanks for you excellent work

but could you please add a option like "minimize to tray plus" that "restore window instead open new window". now if i launch firefox from win7 taskbar i cannot restore firefox window. instead i have to click the tray icon, but it's a little bit inconvenient.

Thank you very much!

Request

A great add-on but would be even better if after closing, ff opened to home page or whatever option (home, last or blank) was chosen.

MinimizeToTray is dead??

What is the situation with MinimizeToTray?
It is not working with Thunderbird 7.0 and we don't get answer about it.

Bug

There is still a bug in version 0.8.2, when you close multiple browser windows. In the system tray when you click "Close" is not going no reaction. In version 0.8.1 this bug is not.
Operating system Windows XP SP3, the browser Mozilla Firefox 3.6.13

MinTrayR 0.9.4: Opening a new instance of Firefox 5 when another one is minimised

Firefox 5 on Windows XP SP3
I use "minimize to tray when close button is clicked".

Reproduction:

  1. Open an instance of Firefox and close it with the button (make sure MinTrayR is set to "minimize to tray when close button is clicked").
  2. Open an another instance of Firefox (and possibly close it the same way).

When I open an instance of Firefox while another one is minimised, it leads to weird results. Closing one window (actually minimising it to tray) causes the second one to close, too (and results in two tray icons). When both of instances are minimised to tray and I close one from context menu, the another one is closed, too. When I run Mozilla again after closing it completely, both instances are loaded.

I fix it by toggling the MinTrayR off, restarting Firefox and closing one of the instances.

0.9.4: Does not minimize TB5 to Tray (after hibernation)

Sometimes TB5 won't minimize to tray and just stays as minimized window in the taskbar.

Yet I do not exactly know why but I think it might be that it ceases to work after I turn my PC on from hibernation.

I'm on Win7 x86.

Bugs

When using the addon MinimizeToTray revived (MinTrayR) v.0.8.1 has a bug - addon DownThemAll 1.1.10 minimized to tray only when minimized to the taskbar. When you close it minimized to tray and close. MinimizeToTray revived (MinTrayR) Minimize to tray just fine Firefox - when you close and minimized to tray.

Some suggestions for Seamonkey 2.1

Hi,

As a Seamonkey user I hope I may have some suggestions:

  1. Could you please make the extension work with SM 2.1? Now, SM is in 2.1rc version and it won't install claiming it's incompatible. I have manually bumped the version in install.rdf to 2.1.* and it works very well in 2.1rc so I assume it's all that has to be done.
  2. It would be great if the F9 shortcut could be changed to something different because in SM the F9 key turns on the sidebar and as a result it doesn't work for mintrayr. I see that F10 is not used for anything so could be a good candidate - or whatever else...
  3. In the old minimize to tray extension there was one great feature that you could right-click on the window minimize icon, which would result in minimizing to tray instead of taskbar. That was great in that there was no need for a toolbar button, which takes up space. I am talking about the standard windows minimize icon/button that is located in the window's top right corner, the third one from the right.

And thanks for your work on this extension, much appreciated. I believe any email client should have this built-in but alas that's not the case for Thunderbird nor Seamonkey.

Instantbird Compatibility

I tested the newest version with the nightlies of Instantbird (based on Mozilla 2) and I can verify it works as expected, the version could be bumped to 0.3a1pre.

Request: Hide the firefox symbol in the tray

Hello,
I have been using your program mintrayr for a while now but i would like to request that when you minimize to the system tray is it possible to press (Ctrl+Alt+H) and then it will hide the firefox symbol in the system tray. When you press it again the symbol it will show the symbol.

Thanks,
Peter Knowles

Shows three instances of icon in sys tray

Win7 64bit Home
Thunderbird 6.0 (also happened with all versions of v5)

Not sure why, but with this add on installed when opening thunder bird, every time it will place three icons in the sys tray (http://img.base-dev.com/Screenshot-2011-08-19_10.46.22.png).

Each icon is treated as a separate instance of thunderbird, but closing any one of them from the sys bar (right hand click -> exit) it will close all three instances.

Turning this add off and opening thunderbird, only one instance will load.

Any futher information required - holla at me.

Incorrect behavior on minimize-on-close in Firefox

mintrayr 0.8.1
Firefox 3.6.13
Firefox 4.0b9pre

Actual result: When I press x button, standard FF window appears asking for close multiple tabs. No matter what I choose in that dialog (either "Close" or "Cancel") window then minimized to tray.

Expected result: MinTrayR should suppress warning dialog if "minimize on close" option is enabled.

p.s. It appeared after update, there was no such problem with previous MinTrayR version.

mintrayr 1.0 tray context-menu not working (Thunderbird 6)

Everything is working fine except i was used to closing Thunderbird by right-clicking on its tray-symbol, but the right-click doesn't work anymore, i reinstalled mintrayr but that didn't help
my Thunderbird 6 is running on Windows XP 32bit

not compatible with "open in new window" option

MinTrayR is not compatible with the following Thunderbird option:

Options -> Advanced -> Read & View -> Read -> open message by double click -> new window
(I do not have the English version, therefore the translation may differ)

If option as above is used AND such a window is minimized or closed (depends on the MinTrayR setup) an new icon has been created in the system tray. As a result there would be multiple Thunderbird Icons in the system tray.

Version 1

In TB 5, reduced to tray okay but there is no right click context menu, all one can do is restore TB - to shut down one must stop the process using task manager

I am running XP pro SP3 TB 5

The only error that I see in the console for this add-on is:

Error: func is undefined
Source File: resource://mintrayr/mintrayr.jsm

although I have two errors listed after this one.

Thanks

Not minimizing SOME windows

FF 4.01; Win7 (also FF 4.0)

If I use any version higher than 0.9.0 there are some windows that won't minimize. For example, the "Listen Live" link for the following site creates a pop-up window that won't minimize in versions above 0.9.0:

http://www.wbez.org/

I've tried disabling all other add-ons with no improvement. I'm only using the default theme. The 0.9.0 versions works fine for me; it's just annoying to be pestered about updating to the latest version (I can live with that).

Any suggestions?

Keyboard shortcut

Thank you for great addon. But it will be more convenient to have ability to setup and use keyboard shortcut(s) for minimize and restore actions (except F9).

Upgrading

When upgrading from version 0.9.4 to 1.0, the DownThemAll! downloads window will minimize to the taskbar but not to the system tray. Removed all MinTrayR 1, DownThemAll 2.07, and the DownThemAl Anti-container 1.01. And then reinstalled, the issue resurfaced. Had to revert to 0.9.4 to restore functionality.

Start minimized

Hi,
There was a feature in MinimizeToTray which was very useful (at least it was for me): offering to start Thunderbird minimized in the tray. Since I ask my OS to run Thunderbird at startup, I just want it to start in the tray instead of popping up on the screen.
I'd really appreciate if you could add this to your addon.
And thanks for what you did to revive the original one.

New msg and AddressBook

Do you can do add in messengerBase.xul:

<menuitem label="Get New Msg" oncommand="goDoCommand('cmd_getMsgsForAuthAccounts');" insertbefore="MinTrayR_sep-bottom"/>
<menuitem label="Addressbook" oncommand="toOpenWindowByType('mail:addressbook', 'chrome://messenger/content/addressbook/addressbook.xul', 'chrome,dialog=no,resizable');" insertbefore="MinTrayR_sep-bottom"/>

Request: Compatibility with Unity Global Menubar extension

I realize this is probably a niche request, but this extension adds perfect functionality to Ubuntu's (Linux) messaging menu. Once minimized to the "tray" (in this case Ubuntu's messaging menu) Thunderbird will continue to run in the background and new messages show up in the messaging menu. However, as soon as I minimize the Thunderbird window and bring it back into focus, the global menu disappears. I have to kill Thunderbird and restart to get the menu back, or run it without the global menu. I will post a similar request with the developer of the Unity Global Menubar extension. It would be awesome if these worked together!

a thx & some wishes

hi nils,
first - thx a lot for this great add-on - ff and tb are nothing without it ;)
second - some thoughts making it more functional:

option: onewindowmode - so force all firefox-/thunderbird windows to merge
explantion: the problem is, if you start firefox or thunderbird accidentally more times, the only way you can get rid off the second, third windows is to start the program in safe-mode or deactivate MinTrayR temporarily. This happens most, if ff or tb has not finished the first start and you launch it again during the first start.

option: show trayicon always
option: start with windows and send to tray (especialy for thunderbird)

and support for ff8a 64bit windows

Unable to restore by click if minimized via Close button

MinTrayR 0.8.1
Thunderbird 3.3a2pre
Firefox 4.0b9pre

Actual result: After I minimize to tray via "close" button ("minimize on close" option is enabled), the window can't be restored by tray icon left click. Tray context menu "Restore" is not working too. The only way to restore the window is a "Restore All" menu item in tray context menu.

Expected result: "minimize to tray on close" should work same way as regular "minimize to tray on window minimize".

Firefox 4 Closes when minimize button is clicked.

When the minimize button ( - ) button is clicked Firefox 4 exits completely.
I restarted Firefox in safe mode to verify that it was not a bug in firefox, and then removed the Mintrayr plugin and restarted firefox. The correct expected behavior occurred without the addon - firefox correctly minimized and did not close.

I am using Ubuntu 11.04 beta 2 with Unity.

[REQ] Option to have the icon always visible in the tray

I'd like to have the icon always visible in the tray. Click it to toggle between visibility states.

Without this option I don't where to look to find Firefox: is it the tray at the top of the screen? or in the window list down the bottom? I don't want to have to remember what state I'd lift Firefox in thirty seven minutes ago when I was last using it. I just want to consistently go to the tray and click on it to get my browser back up to the top of the Z-order.

This should be optional since there are bound to be plenty of other users who are happy with the status quo - which for them no doubt rocks all over the world ;)

(I assume this is the same as Issue #10, but hope that the wording/rationale are (slightly) clearer.)

[edit: Using version 0.9.3 with Firefox 4.0 on Linux - Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meercat]

Close window doesnt work

Ctrl + Shift + W or context menu button @rmb@systray doesnt do anything. Keyboard shortcut works without this add on, but once i enable it, the function stops working. Firefox4beta13pre 64bit, march 14-18 releases affected.

Make MinTrayR compatible with Sonbirg.

Hello,

I've installed the old version of MinTray for Songbird but it does not work anymore.
Is there a way to make MinTrayR compatible with Songbird ?

Thanks.

Request: Restore on mouse up, not mouse down

In Windows 7, when I double-click the Thunderbird system tray icon to restore the window, the windows maximises. Then, the icons in my system tray re-arrange themselves, and the icon that is now where the Thunderbird icon was also registers a click event, maximising that window also. (Many of my applications have a single-click restore feature).

A fix would possibly be to only register the second click when the mouse is released.

Thunderbird 3.3a4 latest update broke minTrayR

Thunderbird (Miramar) 3.3a4 (2011-05-15)
minTrayR 0.9.3

Doesn't work at all, as if there's no such plugin installed. Few days older version of Miramar works file.
Did they changed visual tree again or some plugin policies changed?

load mintrayr at startup

I would like mintrayr to minimize to the tray exactly one time while logged in. Currently I do this with the button the first time firefox is launched but it would be very useful to be able to do this on windows login.

FYI I like it minimized once to the tray because it substantially speeds up subsequent firefox loads which I find to be quite slow without it already minimized to the tray.

If there is a way to load firefox to the tray on windows login with the existing version please advise. Again I only want one instance in the tray for the duration of my session, not every time I close firefox.

Thunderbird 5.0 - win7 - MinTrayR 0.9.4 - two tray icons

Two Tray icons sometimes occur (not yet reproducibly) even though I have set the AddOn option to:

My configuraton is:

Main | Minimze to Tray: instead of closing and minimzing

Thunderbird | Use for Messenger Window [NOT for Message window NOR Write Window]

WorkAround :

  1. Switch off Use for Messenger Window in the AddOn options
  2. Click X to close the Thunderbird.
  3. reopen the Thunderbird
  4. Reinstate Use for Messenger Window in the AddOn options

until it happens again ...
This is not a show stopper but it looks bad in the system tray to have a second icon

MinTrayR 0.9.4: Won't minimize TB

I've had an issue where it won't minimize my Thunderbird. I've tried to use the menu and F9 and it wouldn't do anything.

Seems that the add on will correctly minimize it once or twice and then just stops working.

It also doesn't minimize it when I hit the minimize button, I have to use the minimize to try menu option or F9

I've got Thunderbird 5.0 on Win XP
