I'll think about it, but I would prefer to get to a much more stable position before moving to add anymore major features such as that.

Well, it seems now with some of the more popular addons such as Fen and Venom being removed from github and others looking like they will similarly be removed, a decentralised addon like Seren with its modularity to install support for something like Easynews is becoming even more in demand. Hopefully, this module will gain some traction soon.

Anyone who wants to make an EasyNews provider can make one. The issue is not really that Seren doesn't "support" it, but that nobody has made a provider package for it.

I did but somewhat 1 year ago or maybe even two I'm not sure. Anyway it was long time ago.

I used FEN after Seren then and never get back. I get discount offer for EN for year and a half ago and since that I changed Seren for FEN, now switched to Ezra.

Didn't know they changed that honestly. Good for them. I mean it is not some kind of big deal anyway, A4K still had pretty precise searching engine but in that time FEN had more. But now if it's same, great.. good to hear.

Nzbgeek and NZB Finder are opposite to Easynews. Easynews is not just nzb indexer but also server too. Easynews is no different then Real Debrid or Premiumize. While for Nzbgeek and NZB Finder you need to find usenet providers to download those nzb files which you will find on those two indexers. Premiumize can download and unpack nzb file but it takes time to download and that's depends on Premiumize speed sometimes it is fast and sometimes is slow and need to wait depends how large file is you are downloading. Seren is addon who plays files immediately, click and play and with nzb indexers like Nzbgeek and NZB Finder that can't be possible.

But on the other hand Easynews works same like cached torrents or filehosters. They have one click download links and you can stream files from there just like you stream from debrid services. No need to download nothing before you can watch. Honestly I'm not sure if there is need to change something in Seren's code to play files from Easynews, it's more on scrapers to catch results from Easynews.

Easynews has some stuff AD/RD/PM dont, so it is a great combo with one of aforementioned. It would be great if support could be added , so besides fen we have another quality addon in the face of Seren, that supports Easynews.

Ever since the Kodi 19 update, there haven't been any addons that support Easynews and Orion at the same time. The only thing that is stopping me from jumping ship from some other addon to Seren is Easynews support.
This was brought up over 2 years ago and we haven't seen anything regarding it.
It would be nice to see some progress on this request.
Considering Kodi 19 having killed a large number of addons, if the goal is to increase your user base, now would be the time as I am sure there are people out there looking for a new home base addon to use.

On a side note, it seems that Kodi 19.1 has caused a lot of freezing issues regarding EasyNews when trying to stream a result (in other addons).
I honestly feel that Seren will be the go-to for a lot of people if you manage to get the EN functionality added.

I use NZBgeek to send nzb's to Premiumize via rss-feed. Works great. It's true that it sometimes takes a bit longer to start. But due to interaction between par and rar it will probably be difficult to use newsgroups as a player. You can probably start playing while unrarring but one missing rar and that goes out the window. You can't repair with par on the fly.

Can we get a dev in here to comment on whether this is going to get some action working on, considering pretty much every other request for a feature is 2021 and this dates back to 2018, I am hoping to see it receive some attention?
As always I am still offering access to my account to a dev (which shouldn't be necessary due to trial accounts).

Regarding the benefits, EasyNews (or just Usenet) usually has a hosting history that is there and constantly ageing allowing access to older content and depending on the Usenet host they discard logs of people accessing their side due to it being too difficult to manage so downloading is safe. The speed is also impressive and will max out your connection speed and as you can see with easynews there is no restricting factors when comparing unlimited to unlimited. Know some Debrid/Premiumize that sometimes unlimited isn't actually unlimited based on the factors of downloading to a server sometimes being logged against a monthly limit. You also connect directly to a server that can be close (offering great speeds) to you and doesn't require multiple connections. The cost comparison can sometimes be onpar or even better than debris (based on the discount you find).

As of right now the Gaia6 beta 10 doesn't seem to quite be functioning properly, I have tried testing it.

Seren is crazy addon truth, but you shouldn't hope for Easynews for it, instead install Ezra addon and enjoy.

Developer of Seren doesn't have to do nothing to make Seren able to use EN. Easynews is indexer like Orion, though probably it will be needed user and pass to be implemented from one who would like to make an provider for it. I looked and there isn't some API key like with Orion, but anyway it is simple indexer just instead magnets it is for nzbs.

Real Debrid is amazing service and super popular, Easynews is not popular like that and that's why no one cares to make an provider for it. Developer of FEN (F for Furk and EN for Easynews) probably used both services and that's why he made an addon who will utilize those two?

Previously, for movies, a4kScrapers would require the release_title start with the title, but was changed to title + year some time ago. Neither of which would produce Cuban Fury 2014 in your results.

For some more context on this issue:

The opinion of our development team has always been something along the lines of "nobody is taking advantage of this, so we don't even really know if it works"... Which isn't a great position to be in, when referring to one of the most requested and hyped features of a project. At one point, there was a "proof of concept" provider package for Netflix being tested privately, but it has been broken for quite some time, and never really worked properly to begin with.

Anyone who wants to make an EasyNews provider can make one. The issue is not really that Seren doesn't "support" it, but that nobody has made a provider package for it.

For those paying attention to my previous statement, you'll realize that I was kind of wrong with my responses earlier in this thread. After investigating the issue further, we found that the codebase needed quite a few changes to actually make this functionality work in concert with the rest of Seren's feature set. Those changes have been made, reviewed, and tested in practice by a handful of our private testers, and should be available to the public in the near future.

As of Seren 3.0.0, there is now much more comprehensive support for "adaptive" providers, and also the new "direct" provider type. There is now also a provider package available that includes EasyNews as a direct provider.
