Problem:

Thermal storage model is needed to study the increase in demand side flexibility for buildings with such storage systems.

Notes:

• Thermal storage is inserted between chiller plant and AHU / TU on zone-level, i.e., there is a heat transfer between chiller plant and thermal storage as well as between thermal storage and zone.
• Thermal storage is defined on building-level, i.e., there is only one thermal storage per building.

This issue is opened to discuss the use of bi-level optimization in the storage feature.

Problem:

At the moment chillers and heaters are implicitly defined in building_hvac_ahu_types and building_hvac_tu_types which creates problems for the building-level storage, requiring direct access of parameters by self.parse_parameter('hvac_ahu_cooling_efficiency') and self.parse_parameter('hvac_ahu_heating_efficiency').

Notes

• Define building_chiller_types and building_heater_types (or similar) and refer to these in the AHU and TU and storage definitions.
• Open questions: How complex should these definitions be? Can we just put typical efficiencies of different technologies?
