anti-grabify's Introduction

Anti-Grabify

Welcome to the official GitHub repository for the Anti-Grabify browser extension! If you're here, you are probably concerned about protecting your online privacy from users using services like Grabify or IPLogger. With Anti-Grabify, you'll be protected from links from those two services, as well as many other smaller ones! Alongside the browser extension, this repository is home to the Anti-Grabify uBlock Origin blocklist, which blocks the same URLs as the extension.

Features

  • Effective Protection: Anti-Grabify works by stopping the link from even loading when you click on it, thus saving your IP address from being grabbed.
  • Easy to Use: All you have to do is install the extension, and you're good to go! Links will be blocked automatically as it runs in the background. You may also disable the extension on your browser's extension/addon page.
  • Frequent Updates: Anti-Grabify receives updates throughout the year to remove dead URLs and add live URLs, ensuring you are protected from even the newest of IP grabber links.

Installation

You can get the extension from one of the stores listed below:
Get Anti-Grabify for Firefox Get Anti-Grabify for Chrome Get Anti-Grabify for Edge

Alternatively, you may also download the source code, navigate to chrome://extensions (or about:debugging on Firefox, edge://extensions on Edge), and load the unpacked extension with developer mode enabled. You may also use the uBlock Origin list by adding it under the uBlock Origin filters under the uBlock Origin extension's setting page.

anti-grabify's Issues

Suggestion - PiHole DNS List

First off thanks for this project! I was looking for some IP grabber blocklists to add to a PiHole DNS setup and came across this. While I can write a script that will grab the URL list from this repo and re-package it as a PiHole formatted blocklist file, it might be beneficial for others to have access to it as well.

If you did offer the URL list in a PiHole DNS blocklist format, people could simply add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Konnor88/anti-grabify/master/<file>.txt to their PiHole configurations and automatically get their blocklists updated. The benefit of this is getting blocking on other devices such as smartphones and tablets that may not be able to run browser extensions.

I understand that this is likely venturing outside the scope of your initial intentions for this project so I can understand either way. Thank you!

Suggestion - Ublock Origin block list

I would suggest that in addition to your own software, you consider making a blocklist for ublock origin that users can subscribe to.

I manually took the domains from your extension and added them to my ublock, but it would be better if it was a regularly updated subscription. Assuming that is something that you plan to do.

Manifest V3????

Hello,

I was wondering if this extension will be upgraded to manifestv3 since its only a matter of time before manifest 2 extensions are delisted. Is a manifest v3 version in the works? This extension is very helpful for me and I would love to see a manifest v3 update in the future

Add Url https://ps3cfw.com/ to block

thats another link people are using to try and get your ip, they'll make an excuse saying "these people are attacking you" and sends you that link with a tracking item.

it also has url shorteners with other tools in that website.
