PtrArrays is a trivial package, I'd be willing to re-license it as MIT if the other contributor @lukas is also willing. (see https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.en.html#WhatIfWorkIsShort)

Thanks for bringing attention to this. I hadn't realized that was a consequence of #1848. @LilithHafner will PtrArrays.jl continue to be under the GPL? If so then I think should revert #1848.

That would be awesome, as it seems to me that AliasTables.jl is a great addition otherwise.

AFAICT AliasTables did not depend on any GPL packages when #1848 when merged, the indirect depedency on PtrArrays was only introduced in the latest release 1.1.3 of AliasTables it seems. Unfortunately, it seems currently there is no way to prevent (or at least be notified) by such license changes or GPL additions in (in)direct dependencies, so such GPL regressions can happen at any time 😞
