I've tried ten times now and it seems that optware does not start.

простят меня другие ищущие... 

Итак. С завидной периодичностью роутер 
(rt-n56u) что-то качает... 
Заметно это только по странице Мониторинг 
трафика (/Main_TrafficMonitor_realtime.asp). Т.е. даже при 
выключенном ВСЕМ железе которое к нему 
подключается, он что-то откуда-то тянет на 
скорости чуть больше 1 мегабайта в секунду.

Вопрос в том, Как найти Что? Откуда? и Зачем? 
что-то скачивается.

Повторяется это несколько раз в сутки, 
перезагрузка роутера не вызывает 
прекращения этого процесса. Т.е. пока он САМ 
не скачает, приблизительно, 780-800 мегабайт, 
он не успокоится. В такие моменты, как 
следует ожидать, интернет не радует 
скоростью.

Как уже сказал, отключал все железки от 
него, смотрел на этот график с разных 
устройств, т.е. совпадение что именно они в 
тот момент и качали это считаю не реальным. 
Тем более, что потребление сети в этих 
устройствах было куда более медленным.

Скажите, Куда копать? как замучить роутер 
через ssh, что поставить в optware, какой лог вам 
предоставить? 
Я совсем не далек от линукса (это моя 
основная ОС), но и не настолько близок, чтоб 
самостоятельно найти источник проблемы.

Возможно ли, что это "некий сетевой флуд", 
что мне льют с какой-то целью?

Проверяемые прошивки: Стоковая, местная p4 и 
текущая установленная p6.
У меня есть реальный IP, но никакого сайта за 
ним не стоит, IP используется только для 
моих личных подключений извне — если это 
важно.

Hi, I am on P6 firmware and I have issues with pppoe connection. The router 
connect normaly at startup and shows 2 ip adreses, if I click pause, remains 
connected but not showing any ip adress just 0.0.0.0, the renew button is 
greyed out. I have to reboot the router to change ip and show adresses.
I didn't try on previous firmwares

I'm not seeing anywhere in English what the point of this project is. what does 
this firmware offer that the stock firmware does not?

1. I have 2 HDD's connected to the USB ports on the router with some home 
movies and some ripped movies which i want to watch on the LG TV
2. The streaming using DLNA used to work on the stock firmware, 
RT-N56U_1.0.1.7f flawlessly, however since i installed RT-N56U_1.0.1.7f-p7  the 
DLNA connection to the connected HDD's drops in 5-10 mins.
3. I am not sure which logs to attach or what other information needs to be 
submitted to get this issue resolved.

I expect that the DLNA connection to the shared disks shouldnt drop

2. Use router for some time (30 - 40 minutes)
3. Start clicking on links and notice that the internet is no longer working.
4. Wait 20-30 seconds and internet connection is reestablished.
5. Every few minutes go back to step 3.

The expected output is a wan port that stays connected to the internet.

behavior.

1. Enable LAN DHCP server
2. Enter a domain name with a '.' in it: example.com
3. Click Apply

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: The change is applied and the DHCP server hands out a domain name to 
the DHCP clients.
Observed: A help message that says only alphanumeric characters and the dash 
are allowed is displayed to the right in a yellow box.  A pop up widget says 
'Invalid character!' and the change is not applied.

1. try to wake up a PC behinde the rt-n56u AFTER a time of 5 min or so - it's   

impossible if your system is in standby/ NIC is in standby
2. try a broadcast with the rt-n56u - it's impossible

I expect a WOL, but nothing happens...

If you try a wake up within your LAN, that's no problem because you did the 
broadcast yourself.

If you configure the rt-n56u to make a broadcast (like port 9 in virtual server 
settings to x.x.x.255) it dosen't work because the rt56u won't broadcast.

If you configure the direct IP like x.x.x.32 it will work from WAN as long as 
the chipset dosen't save energy (its something between 1 to 5 minutes). Than it 
won't work anymore.

Why? Because windows save energy in standby and hybernation mode on the LAN 
port. That makes the rt-n56u to beleave this connetion is unused so itself cut 
off this lane.

BUT! If you shut down your PC and your mortherboard settings are correct, than 
you CAN wake it up via WAN.

WHY? Because now, windows won't save energy on the LAN port and the rt-n56u 
won't cut off the LAN-port.

So WOL works from LAN as long as you do the broadcast yourself direct to the 
network and virtual server ports are correct direct to the IP (no broadcast). 
WOL from WAN only work if you shut down you PC. Thinks like another sub net 
like x.x.x.192 to broadcast via x.x.x.63 doesn't fool the router.

WOL form LAN if PC standby = yes (as along as you do the broadcast)
WOL from WAN if PC standby = only for 1 to 5 minutes
WOL from WAN if PC shut down = yes
WOL via broadcast = noway!
WOL via broadcast tricks (like subnet x.x.x.192 or ethbroadcast like MAC 
ffffffffffff) = noway!

Maybe you can add a function to disable energysaving of the router chipset to 
enable WOL/ WOW.

Adding a line for writting
"pasv_promiscuous=yes"
to vsftpd.conf will solve the issue.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. with default settings minidlna won't start, on Miscellaneous setting if I 
put /AiDisk_a1 is starting but not showing any file on my TV Samsung LE32CE550.
If I manually edit the minidlna.conf after a router reboot the file is 
overwriten with original one but still minidlna not starting, the minidlna.conf 
is ignored.

Первый запуск канала IPTV через мобильное 
устройство — заработало.
Попытки найти прописанные в конфиге мои 
каналы YouTube не дали результата. Нашел в 
веб-интерфейсе кнопку Перезагрузить фиды.  
Каналы стали доступны. После этого все 
пошло не так.

Проблема: при запуске канала IPTV или ролика 
YouTube проигрывается не выбранный 
ролик/канал, а ролик из следующей канала. 
Т.е. IPTV теперь не доступно — проигрываются 
ролики с YouTube или vimeo. IPTV обычным способом в 
VLC в Ubuntu нормально работает.

Выбранный контент != что проигрывается.

Через веб-интерфейс (или nano) в плейлистах 
правильные ссылки.

Проверено:
1) XBMC (Ubuntu 64)
2) "UPnPlay + VPlayer"  в Андроид.
3) Chrome, через опцию Donwload в веб-интерфейсе.

Используются: 
 — RT-N56U_1.0.1.7f-p6 firmware (p5 update) 
 — xupnpd-1.0-rc4 (ставилось по инструкции в wiki через "ipkg install http://rt-n56u.googlecode.com/files/xupnpd-rt_n56u-1rc3.ipk" почему стоит другая версия — не знаю)

The first launch of IPTV channels via your mobile device - successfully.
Attempts to find a prescription in my config YouTube channels have failed. 
Found in the web interface button Reload feeds. Channels become available. 
After that, the problems began.

Problem: when you start the channel IPTV or video YouTube plays not selected 
movie / channel and video from the next channel. That is, IPTV is no longer 
available - play videos from YouTube or vimeo. Normal play IPTV with VLC in 
Ubuntu works fine. 

Selected content != Something that is playing.

Through the web interface (or nano) playlists has true links.

Installed xupnpd and worked flawlessly for some days but suddenly stoped and I 
cannot start it anymore, I reinstalled more times and than started with 
/opt/etc/init.d/S85xupnpd start command but not showing in webpage, if I try to 
stop it gives me the next error: "sh: cannot kill pid 1016: No such process"

1. When I connect my hard drive to the USB port to view my movies over the 
network to my Blu Ray player, it takes a long time until all movies are 
synchronized after the first start or a reboot of the router.

Normally, it took about 1 hour to 1.5 hours with the firmware 8.1.1.4o and 
1.0.1.4o and all folders were visible and ready to play on the Blu Ray Player. 
After the firmware update to version 1.0.1.7f-pX (i've tried p5, p6 and p7), it 
takes more than 24 hours and more.

Is it possible that the router is running with firmware 8.1.1.4o with the 
status of IP sharing and with 1.0.1.7f-pX as a Router?

Hi, I would like to use my RT-N56U as a (open)vpn client of vyprvpn. I can use 
my Fedora machine to connect to this vpn provider, but I would like to have the 
router do this job in order to have all internet traffic routed through this 
service.
Is this possible?

What do you see instead?
I have setup optware and it works like a charm, but when I install openvpn I 
create a server, not a client like I need. For example DD-WRT supports running 
the router as a vpn client.

как это было в прошивках под старые асусы. Я 
специально патчил себя 7.0.0.32 чтобы этого

Dir300nru проблем не было
ASUS Rt-n56u на прошивках на которых работает IPTV 
как Multicast, а не только на порт для приставки 
да и на порт тоже IPTV отключается через 23-24

I'm using p6 version of your firmware and recently i'm having a problem/issue. 
My router is adding on its own some port forwarding to my local computers. How 
is that possible ? 

Here is few lines from my log:

Have just installed the latest custom firmware (p6). Router itself seems to be 
working fine. However, cannot get firmware to work.

Symptoms: Running ipkg gives

Hi There, firstly thanks for your amazing work!

I'm trying to add multiple paths to the minidlna path scan, however if I edit 
/etc/minidlna.conf the paths (media_dir=) added are wiped on reboot and 
replaced with

media_dir=/media

I'm aware you can add a path in the router config under USB App, misc. However 
I'm failing to understand how to add multiple paths.

I'm trying to add locations from 2 attached 1TB USB drives.

Is there some sort of script I need to enable or something else I should be 
editing in order to add multiple paths to the config file.

I'm trying to add something like:

media_dir=V, /media/AiDisk_a5
media_dir=/media/AiDisk_b1

Which is wiped on reboot.

даже на 1.0.1.7f не удалось завести Samsung SWC-U200.

Although I do not currently use this firmware, I would very much like to, but 
there is one issue in particular that would make this firmware a must-have.
Is it possible that a second, or even third or fourth, print queue could be 
added so that the RT-N56U can support more than one printer at a time? The 
router already allows the use of a USB hub to go beyond the 2 USB ports 
provided, but the current limitation of one printer is very restrictive, which 
is why I am exploring the possibility of using a custom firmware such as this 
one.

А не реализовать ли транскондинг для 
медиаплеера?
Многие сетевые медиаплееры не так 
универсальны в плане форматов (не понимают 
всяческие флаки, алаки, мовы, mkv и т д и т п. 
Не реализовать ли транскодинг на лету для 
подобных нестандартных форматов? (можно 
сделать систему профилей с выбором 
используемого медиаплеера и транскодер бы 
декодил нестандартные форматы в форматы и 
контейнеры понимаемые медиаплеером) - по 
примеру Home Media Server, TVERSity итд..
Надеюсь мое пожелание не очень наглое:)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

1 The first problem is as follows.
  "nvram set wl_country_ code" with the command to change to US and KR. "Nvram commit" to the next.
   Before rebooting the router would have changed the KR, but look after rebooting again, appears to be US.

2. The second problem is as follows.
  "/sbin/ setCountryCode" ? What has changed is using, and how might that change the country_code the KR.
   Anyway, I was changed by the KR.

1) KR: 2.4GHz Channel bands are as follows: 1-13
         5GHz Channel are as follows: 34,36,38,40,42,44,46,48,52,56,60,64,100,104,108,112,116,120,124,128,149,153,157,161,165

2) However, the boot log it N56U
      2.4GHz the kernel: ch 1 ~ 11 show only, 12 and 13 does not come out.
                 kernel: Channel looks to the 1-13.

        5GHz the kernel: Channel 149,153,157,161 visible.                                  

3) In conclusion,from 2.4Ghz to manually set up 12 or 13, you can not find any 
wireless devices N56U AP. 
   From 1 to 11 should only have to set manually, you can use the AP.

Клиенты (NAS, принтер) использующие сервис 
Apple - bonjour отваливаются. В частности принтер 
HP ENVY 100 при подключении к N56U в течение 2 
минут после подключения можно найти с Iphone 
(airprint) и с бука, но с пустя 3-5 мин это сделать 
невозможно. Ищется только по ip с бука, 
сетевое хранилище аналогично, но если с 
сетевым хранилищем так жить еще можно 
(приписал ip и все), то функцианальность 
принтера урезается ибо airprint работает 
только через bonjour.

I installed successfully transmission and it's working great, I acces it from 
192.168.1.1:9091 but I don't have acces from wan, I oppened port 9091, 51413 
(default), I changed the port and oppened another one in port forwarding but 
without luck, tryed with Transmission Remote GUI but still nothing.
Maybe I have to specify another ip adress than 192.168.1.1 in port forwarding? 
or maybe web gui access is just for ddwrt firmware?
There is somebody who managed to access it from wan?

Expected is a working download of version p7. Instead u get a broken download 
link and google error page thats say: "The requested URL 
/p/rt-n56u/downloads/detail?name=RT-N56U_1.0.1.7f-p7-mips32.zip was not found 
on this server." Error 404.
