vim-ft-go's Introduction

A rudimentary Go filetype plugin. Provides syntax files and basic settings for go files.

This is a fork of some of the vim files originally stored in the main go repository under misc/vim/.

If you're doing serious go development, you probably want to install a more full-featured plugin like https://github.com/fatih/vim-go, which includes lots of useful commands and utilities.

NOTE: As of vim 7.4.414, these files have been merged into vim's upstream runtime files. You only need this plugin if you're running an older version of vim, or to receive future updates until they're merged into vim.

vim-ft-go's Issues

Updating the runtime files in Vim

Hi there!

The runtime files in the default Vim distro are a bit outdated; there are a few new features, and a few things that could be optimised/improved. I've been working on this in https://github.com/arp242/gopher.vim; unlike vim-go, it's more self-contained, and with a few small modifications stuff like the syntax, compiler, and other generic runtime files could be added to the default Vim distro.

Usually the response to patches to runtime files is "contact the maintainer", and you're still listed as that @dbarnett; hence this issue.

I don't have a direct patch or list of changes as such; I forked from vim-go, which took the files from here 6 years ago (I think?)

Any thoughts on how to proceed? I can open a PR, or add some changes incrementally. I don't mind taking over the maintainership of the Vim runtime files either, since this doesn't seem very active and the current version in Vim is from 2014 ๐Ÿ˜…

Thanks!
Martin
