monologue's Issues

MySQL storage implementation

We should create a MySQL-compatible storage implementation. The rootsanalyzer (PR #40) currently cannot get root certificates from the rootsgetter because we have no persistent storage implementation.

Logging does not include severity

The standard Go log package is being used (log), which does not support severity levels (e.g. INFO, WARN, ERROR). It will be easier to migrate to github.com/golang/glog sooner rather than later, and this will provide more expressive logging. Severity levels are particularly useful for highlighting errors amongst a sea of routine log messages.

Documentation for client.GetSTH() references GetAndParse()

monologue/client/client.go

Lines 177 to 183 in b8497a1

// GetSTH performs a get-sth request.
// Returned is:
// - a populated ct.SignedTreeHead, if no error is returned.
// - the HTTPData struct returned by GetAndParse() (see above).
// - an error, which could be any of the error types returned by
// GetAndParse(), or a ResponseToStructError.
func (lc *LogClient) GetSTH() (*ct.SignedTreeHead, *HTTPData, error) {

The above documentation refers to "GetAndParse()", which is an unexported function (its actual name is "getAndParse()". This makes this part of the documentation unhelpful when viewed on godoc.org, since that function doesn't appear. Please consider:

  • rewording this part of the documentation
  • avoiding references to unexported code in the documentation of exported code
