brightcon's Issues

Budget

  • Cases for 25/50/75 participants
  • Decide on fees for workshop and conference
  • Review budget for errors or missing items
  • Agree on preliminary budget (DdS & LIST)
  • Update contract for agreed upon fees
  • Resolve question of where and how to allocate extra sponsorship funds (email of April 5)

Session concept: Use my software

Instead of talks where people say what they did, working examples are prepared so conference participants can actually use the software, data sources, etc. These presentations get more time, maybe 30 minutes.

Contract with LIST

  • Resolve issue on profit sharing
  • Resolve issue on sharing participant data (EEA)
  • Agreement on sponsorship design
  • Agree on preliminary budget
  • Sign contract (Chris)
  • Sign contract (Karin)

Session concept: Solve my problem

Some of the participants will be experienced users, but many will be novices, and everyone has some things they don't know how to do. In this session, people will post their problems, and a rotating team of volunteers will solve as many problems as possible in the session.

Would require some more time, maybe an hour.

There could be a prize for whomever solves the most problems :)

Session concept: Contest

It would be awesome to have contests, like they do at proper hacker contests :) The idea is that the contest sponsor defines a real problem, and this is announced publicly ~1 month before the contest. Then participants have some time to present their solutions during the conference in front of an audience. There will be a cash prize for the winner(s).

Todo:

  • Find sponsor
  • Get reasonable and practical challenge
  • Find jury (or decide to have audience judge submissions)
  • Decide on additional prize, if any
