It'd be nice to visual the foreign-born population data to let people learn about their community. This could be done as a custom visualization that shows up alongside the flags of the nations and matches. It would also give this app some staying power and utility outside of the world cup tournament times.

The first step would be to design a way to show the data about percentages of foreign-born residents for an area.

So we can see how popular (or not) this is.

One of the goals is to have this app connect people to the foreign born populations in their area. We could do this by pointing them towards restaurants to get food from, or maybe go watch a game at. Perhaps we could pull data from Yelp or some other API for this based on the country of origin and the location.

This app currently still uses 2010 5-year average ACS data. It would be great o update this to 2020 data. Also the instructions for acquiring the data are out of date, because the Census Bureau has changed its website. This issue would require finding and downloading a new set of US Foreign-Born population data, hopefully broken down by zip-code still. Then we'd have to update the data import script to create a database from this new dataset, and also update the instructions for fetching data to match the new Census website setup.
