This solution is a personal knowledge management system and it allows users to upload text, images, and audio into categories. Each of these types of data is managed by a dedicated microservice built on Azure serverless technologies including Azure Functions and Cognitive Services. The web front-end communicates with the microservices through a SignalR-to-Event Grid bridge, allowing for real-time reactive UI updates based on the microservice updates. Each microservice is built and deployed independently using VSTSβs build and release management system, and use a variety of Azure-native data storage technologies.
This reference architecture walks you through the decision-making process involved in designing, developing, and delivering a serverless application using a microservices architecture through hands-on instructions for configuring and deploying all of the architecture's components along the way. The goal is to provide practical hands-on experience in working with several Azure services and the technologies that effectively use them in a cohesive and unified way to build a serverless-based microservices architecture.
